New dates announced for Norco Primex 2022

Norco Primex Field Days is proud to announce November 10-12 as the new dates for this highly anticipated agricultural expo.

The event was originally scheduled for May 19-21, but earlier this month organisers made the difficult decision to postpone it due to floods and ongoing adverse weather conditions.

Director Bruce Wright said the new dates were selected after extensive consultation across a range of exhibitor and stakeholder sectors, while also taking other field days and event calendars into consideration.

“We have taken the time to seek advice about suitable dates with a broad section of our stakeholders, and also sought feedback to maximise the opportunities and benefits the event and its exhibitors can provide. We express our gratitude to those involved, who have been extremely supportive,” he said.

“We also hope to minimise any impacts to other functions and events scheduled throughout the region at this time. The indication from stakeholders suggests there are no other events that would be directly affected by this decision, and that the region would, in fact, benefit from the additional visitors travelling here for Primex and the Northern Rivers’ extensive destination experiences.”

Mr Wright said he understood the importance of Primex to the region and the 400-plus businesses that benefitted from the event being held. His goal is to achieve full capacity and end 2022 with an event that will showcase and support the local community and its primary industries.

“Almost $5 million will be injected immediately into the region’s economy, and we expect more than $47 million in sales generated by the event over the three days,” he said.

“With many businesses, farmers, regional communities, charities, and support groups reliant on the delivery of a successful Primex, we are looking forward to improved weather conditions and enhanced development of the event programs and exhibitor participation.”

Louise Orr, general manager of North Coast Local Land Services, said Primex would offer a great opportunity to reconnect after the floods and check in on customers’ recovery.

Southern Cross University’s Vice President (Engagement), Ben Roche, also said they were looking forward to supporting Norco Primex in line with the newly announced dates.

“At Southern Cross, collaboration is at the heart of how we create impact,” he said.

“The opportunity to partner with Primex provides an important opportunity to grow awareness of the new and exciting opportunities emerging in agriculture as the sector and nation grapple with smarter farming and how we develop greater resilience to drought and flood – the realities of a changing climate.”

Norco Primex 2022 will be held at the Richmond Valley Events Centre at Casino from November 10-12, 2022.
